Rupert “Clark” Chafin, 83, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Otterbein Portage Valley. Clark was born on December 23, 1934 in Matewan, West Virginia to Andrew Jackson and Sadie Willie (Backus) Chafin. Clark proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by the CSX Railroad as a Brakeman Conductor. He married Patricia A. (Viers) Chafin on January 7, 1997 and she survives. Clark was a member of the Walbridge VFW Post #9963 and served on the Honor Guard. He was past Junior Vice and Senior Vice Commander of the Post. His favorite past times were fishing and bowling and spending time with his beloved family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patricia A. Chafin; children, David Chafin, Dottie Bowens and Stacey Meadors; grandchildren, Kelsey, Dylan and Bailee; great-grandchildren, Izik, Addilynn and Lincoln; sister, Ann Gibson and special friend and buddy, Lorie Campbell. Clark was preceded in death by his children, Ted and Andy Chafin and Debbie Smith; brothers, Willis and Barry Chafin; and sisters, Ruby Kennedy and Ruth Blankenship. Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a VFW Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Terry Smith, officiating. Memorial contributions in Clark’s name may be made to Walbridge VFW Post #9963, 109 N. Main St, Walbridge, Ohio 43465.
