Roy S. Swartz

Roy S. Swartz, 91, of Johnsons Island, OH died, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on March 28, 1925 to Floyd and Esta (Brandeberry) Swartz in Cygnet, OH. He was a WWII Veteran serving in Pattons Third Army and earned a Bronze Star. On July 31, 1946 he married Lucille (Hoffman) Eckert and she preceded him in death on March 31, 1996. Roy was principal at Fostoria Junior High School and retired in 1980. He was a former member of the Fostoria High Street United Methodist Church and a member of Fostoria Masonic Lodge #288. He was a graduate of Cygnet High School and Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education (1952) and Master of Education (1959). Roy is survived by Sons: Stanley (Jan) Swartz, Rick (Peg) Swartz Brian Swartz, 14 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esta (Brandeberry) and Floyd S. Swartz, Wife, Lucille, Daughter, Darla Ritchey, Sisters, Helen McKee, Marion Crawford, and Norma Laws. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, 9:30 am - until funeral services at11:00 am at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 216 Washington St, Port Clinton, OH, with Pastor Jim Sharrett, officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted at 9:45am. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Marblehead, OH .
