Roy Dennis Sebree

July 10, 1940 — November 20, 2024

Mr. Roy Dennis Sebree, age 84, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away November 20, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. Roy was born July 10, 1940, in Elkton, Kentucky to the late Roy and Georgia (Chesnut) Sebree. He graduated from Todd County (KY) High School in 1958. He went on to serve his beloved country in the United States Army. Roy was and remained deeply patriotic, extremely proud of his service and duty to defend freedom.

His sense of responsibility extended into his work life. After honorable discharge from the Army, Roy worked in his brother’s business, “Daves Carwash” in Fostoria, OH; followed by laborious work in the local foundry. Roy consistently worked hard, retiring from the Chrysler Corporation after more than 30 years of employment. After retirement, he was instrumental in supporting his wife and daughter in the family business. “Aunt Minnies Foods”. Additionally, he drove for a commercial bus line for several years, where enjoyed meeting the people, and getting them safely to their destinations. He believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well – with excellence. Roy taught this trait to his children and grandchildren and had high expectations of each of them. He was a “man’s man”, chivalrous, caring and strong.

In his free time, Roy enjoyed working with his hands, a constant “tinkerer”. He was also an avid sports fan, remembering statistics and sharing his insights with others. Roy was eclectic at times, keeping certain habits including eating 8 raisins and at least one egg yolk daily. He also enjoyed an occasional shot of gin with a raisin, and he loved seafood, especially fresh oysters. He was also known to take regular walks and visit the horse track or casino from time to time.

Left to cherish Roy’s memory are his children, Claudia Sebree-Pressly, Dr. Elizabeth Deniece Sebree-Douglas (Michael), and Carl Ruben “C.J.” Jay, Sr. (Liz); bonus daughter, Katherine Roe (Todd); grandchildren, Christopher James Brown (Kamillah), Carlton Dennis Brown, Noah Sebree Douglas, Elijah Sebree Douglas, Dr. Carl Ruben “C.J.” Jay, Jr. (Tiffany), and Felicia Jay; great grandchildren, Carlos Ramone Jay (Neisha), Anya, Katarina, Tulio, and Ember; great-great grandchildren, Carlos Ramone Jay, Jr and Ny’Arah Jay; cousin, Mary Estella Conner; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; as well as his special friend, Ms. Lillian Taite.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Pearl (nee Peters) Sebree; his ex-wife and life-long friend, Anne Elizabeth (Johnson) Northington; and his siblings, Josephine, Louis, Claude, Thurman, Dave, John, Jerry Sebree and Jane Ann (Bell) Knox.
