Roy Frank Redlinger, age 86, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1939, in Ottawa Lake to Gerald and Opal (Quackenbush) Redlinger.
Roy spent his entire life in the Ottawa Lake area and was a graduate of Blissfield High School. He went on to study engineering and drafting, leading to a long and dedicated career with Surface Combustion, where he worked for 41 years. A skilled draftsman, Roy contributed to projects around the world, leaving a lasting impact through his work.
On April 10, 1965, Roy married the love of his life, Lonna Mae (Muntz) Redlinger. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. They were blessed with three children: Ron, Robin, and Randy.
Roy had a deep love for his family and a strong commitment to his faith. After accepting Christ as his Savior, he and his family became active in church life, attending Emmanuel Baptist Church of Toledo and later Hope Baptist Church. In his later years, even when health challenges prevented him from attending in person, Roy remained spiritually connected by listening to services and staying engaged in his faith.
He found great joy in spending time with his family and traveling with Lonna, especially during retirement. Together, they created many cherished memories visiting their children and grandchildren and traveling to places such as Branson, Alaska, Switzerland, and Costa Rica.
Roy was known for his steadfastness through life's trials. As a young boy, he suffered a serious accident that resulted in the loss of his right eye and partial use of his hand. Despite this, he lived a full and determined life, never allowing hardship to define him. Over the years, his family also faced significant challenges, yet their faith in God remained their firm foundation.
Above all, Roy treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lonna Redlinger; his sons, Ron (Sharon) Redlinger and Randy (Joy) Redlinger; six grandchildren; soon-to-be three great-grandchildren; and his siblings: sister Donyce (Russ) Jasmund, and brothers David (Nancy), Daniel (Mary), and Fred (Judy) Redlinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his daughter, Robin Redlinger.
Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home of Toledo, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Chris Lynch of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. A graveside service will immediately follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
