Roy J. Potridge, 83, of Clay Center, died Monday afternoon, February 9, 2009, in St. Charles-Mercy Hospital, Oregon. Roy was born April 20, 1925, in Harrison County, Georgia, to Arthur W. and Pearl W. Hobbs Potridge. On October 9, 1949, in Rising Fun, Georgia, he married Mary O. Tarvin and she survives. After working 50 years, Roy retired in 1990 from U.S. Gypsum in Genoa. He served his country proudly from 1944-1947 in the U.S. Army. Roy was a member of Northwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and being a person who loved to help others, he helped the neighbors with their yard work as well. Roys special loves were his wife, children, grandchildren, and all his family. In addition to his wife, Mary, Roy is survived by son, Ronald Skeeder Potridge of Toledo and daughter, Kathy John Moore of Toledo, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Wesley Barbara, Eugene Shirley, Jimmy Jeanie and sisters, Grace and Mary Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, David Teet, brothers, Stanley, Troy, Hoyt and Billy, and sisters, Mabel, Louise, and Evelyn Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2009, in the funeral home with interment to follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg. Memorials for Roy may be given to Northwood Baptist Church, 566 E. Florence Ave., Toledo, OH 43605.
