Rosendo Martinez, 93, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. Rosendo was born on October 07, 1923 in McAllen, TX, the son of Eduardo and Manuela (Cortez) Martinez. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII, where he received 2 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and many other awards. On October 03, 1946 in McAllen, TX, he married Maria Gamboa and she preceded him in death. Rosendo worked as a plumber for Standard Products until his retirement in 1978. Those left to cherish his memory are: Children: Sylvia Martinez, Lupe (Henry) Alvarado, Eddie (Chris) Martinez and Diana Alvarado; Grandchildren: Steve, Sylvia, Alex, Cari, Mike, Angie, Andi, Celeste, Mario Troy; Great-Grandchildren: Tyler, Dylan, Weston, Austin, Jaxon, Kenzie, Oliver Oscar; Sister: Olivia Balli; Brother: Alvaro (Estella) Martinez. Rosendo was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter: Chriselda Gonzalez; sisters: Lola Peralez Francisca Figueroa, son-in-law: Mario Alvarado. A Memorial Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:30AM, Friday, December 23, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Memorials in memory of Rosendo may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
