Rose C. Schwind

Rose Rectenwald Schwind, 88, of Perrysburg, passed away on December 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 14, 1934 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Henry and Bertha (Wershing) Rectenwald. She married the love of her life, Glenn Schwind, on November 13, 1954.

Rose worked at Citizens Bank and Ohio Bell upon graduating from high school. Soon after marrying, she and Glenn started their family in Perryburg, Ohio then moved to Bradenton, Florida where they lived from 1959 to 1969. After returning to Ohio, they settled back in Perrysburg. Camping was a favorite past time and they enjoyed many trips with extended family. Later, they toured the country in their RV and planned dream vacations which included numerous cruises and visits to Hawaii and Alaska. Rose worked as a bookkeeper at Kazmaier’s in Perrysburg until her retirement. Following retirement, they spent winters at their condo in Bradenton, Florida.

Rose enjoyed playing euchre with family and friends, taking square dancing classes and touring in their 1964 Chevy with the Black Swamp Chapter, VMCCA. Most of all, she relished in being a Grandma and her grandchildren loved spending time with her.

Rose is survived by her husband of 68 years, Glenn Schwind; children Joyce (Dave) Baranski, Garry (Malinda) Schwind, Janet (Danny) Sieminski and Vicki (Carl) Richardson; twin sister Rosella (Mickey) Hoffman; grandchildren Lindsay and Joseph Baranski, Cassandra (Jeff) Bryan, Sean Sieminski, Nicholas Schwind, and Michael and Kristen Richardson; and great grandchildren Braydon Rapp, Emma and Jake Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Richard (Kathleen) Rectenwald and Thomas Rectenwald; sister Irene (John) Schivelbein; and brother-in-law Paul Hoffman.

Friends and family will be received Friday, December 9, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Rose’s children would also like to thank their Dad for showing them the true meaning of love. Watching him tenderly care for Mom these past few years has been an inspiration for all of us. Rest in peace Mom. We will take it from here and have many projects to keep Dad busy!
