Rose Assily Majdalani of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 15 at the age of 88 after a year-long battle with cancer. Born on November 23, 1931, she is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, George Badih Majdalani. She is preceded in death by her parents, Yousef and Ferouz Assily, and her siblings, Jubran, Raffoul, Antoine and Marie Assily. Rose will be remembered as the most caring and devoted mother to her two sons, Badih “John” Majdalani and Joe (Brenda) Majdalani. To her four grandchildren, she was their sweet “Teta.” Teta’s selfless nature and kind spirit will never be forgotten by Tara Majdalani (Kris Zurcher), Connor Majdalani, Trevor Majdalani and Amy Majdalani Goulet (Josh). Known for her love of people and her beautiful smile, Rose was born in Acre, Palestine and moved to Lebanon in 1947, where she met her husband George. From Lebanon, Rose and George immigrated with their two young sons to New York City in 1967. Rose had a long career as an executive secretary, working for the United Nations and Coca Cola in Lebanon and New York City, then Cameo and the OEA in Toledo. A talented seamstress, Rose loved nothing more than to make clothing for herself and beautiful dresses for her granddaughters. After her retirement in 1996, Rose and George relocated to Marco Island, Florida, where they enjoyed 20 years of sunshine and gardening. Rose was a member of The Friends Club, a group of international women who performed charitable work. Her love of people and fashion never failing, Rose worked at a local clothing boutique so that she could be social and continue her tailoring work. Rose lived for the holiday visits from her children and grandchildren, and would prepare elaborate and delicious Arabic dinners that were the highlight of each day. Upon her return to Perrysburg in 2017, Rose continued to prepare weekly family dinners. And, she didn’t let being in her late 80s slow her down! Rose was a savvy Facebooker and kept in touch with family and friends around the world through frequent texting and calls. She was remarkably fit and agile, with boundless energy to clean her house, grocery shop, and care for her husband George up until a few months before her death. Her grace and dignity during her last months will forever be remembered by her family. A mass to celebrate Rose’s life for immediate family only will be held at Saint John XXIII on Monday, May 18, 2020 with a private graveside service to follow at St. Rose Cemetery.
