A life-long Toledo resident, Posy married her high school sweetheart and soul mate, Robert L. Huebner, on February 28th 1941. Over 62 years, they lived a life full of commitment to the advancement of Toledo, art, education and culture. Their love of adventure sent them traveling around the world many times over. Posy graduated from Scott High School in 1940. She pursued higher education and graduated from the University of Toledo in 1944. In 1942, Posy founded Gateway School, a nationally accredited Preschool and Kindergarten. She became known to generations of Toledoans as “Miss Posy.” Her love for early childhood education and children’s books positively impacted thousands of preschool age children and their families. Posy retired from Gateway School in1979. Pursuing her passion for the arts, Posy began a second career as a docent at The Toledo Museum of Art. For the next twenty-five plus years, she studied the Museum’s collections, and art history to meticulously prepare top-notch tours for visitors of all ages. It is now a unique and precious asset to Toledo’s cultural community. For the past 10 years, Posy remained an influential contributor and active Advisory Board member. In 2004, Posy and Bob co-founded the Robert L. Huebner and Posy Huebner Collection at the Main Library of Toledo Lucas County Public Library. The collection contains exceptional works of original art by children’s literature illustrators. Originally unveiled with 13 pieces, the collection has grown to over 125 and has brought significant literary and artistic recognition to the Library. Posy and Bob furthered their commitment to the Main Library by funding a state-of-the-art Children’s Programming Room. Recipient of the 2005 Crosby Award, Posy was recognized and honored as a woman who devoted time and energy to the Toledo area to positively impact the arts, nature and education. Posy was also a passionate contributor to the endowment funds of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. She was a ticket subscriber for over 60 years, enjoying thousands of concerts, events and lectures in The Peristyle at The Toledo Museum of Art.
