Rosalyn M. Novotney, 83, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 27, 2022, at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, Ohio. Rosalyn was born in Martin, Ohio on July 30, 1938, to Clarence and Marie (Baker) Moritz and graduated from Genoa High School in 1956. She married Richard C. Novotney in Genoa on October 8, 1960, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1993.
Rosalyn started her working career at the Toledo Edison in downtown Toledo, moving to the Genoa branch of the Genoa Banking Company for 25 years. Throughout her life she also had worked and volunteered at Genoa Area Local Schools in the cafeteria, playground and wherever needed. For many years, her warm and friendly personality greeted visitors at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home in Genoa. Rosalyn also was the church secretary for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, of which she was a lifelong member.
Always a true Comet, Rosalyn held season tickets for football and basketball, soccer, and attended every sporting event her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. She was also an avid bowler in the Tuesday night bowling league at the former Clay Center Recreation Hall and the Ma & Pa leagues on Saturday nights. Rosalyn was a true die-hard Bingo player and could be found at many area festivals and celebrations surrounded by cards. She also was an internet café fan.
Rosalyn is survived by her sons and their wives, Thomas A. (Tina), Douglas R. (Lori), and Daniel W. (Jennifer) Novotney, grandchildren, Craig Novotney, Emily (Tyler) Pickard, Maggie, Holley, Daniel and Lauren Novotney, great grandchildren, Logan, Kamden, and Andres Novotney, siblings, Marilyn Opfer, Merle (Rita) Moritz and Bruce (Rita) Moritz. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation for Rosalyn will be held in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, from 3:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 1, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main St., Genoa. Interment will follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Allen-Clay Genoa Volunteer Fire Dept. 101 Sixth St., Genoa, OH 43430 or the Donor’s Choice.
