Rosalie Ann Raizk

Jul 5, 1939 — Oct 22, 2026

Rosalie "Lee" Raizk went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ October 22, 2026.

A woman of faith, full of love for family and friends, and always upbeat and ready to enjoy the simple things of life, she led a remarkable life. Born to Veronica and Edmund Raizk of Toledo, she graduated from Central Catholic High and the University of Toledo. A proud member of Chi Omega sorority, she fondly remembered her college days and the dear friends she made at UT.

After 10 years of teaching elementary education, she and her sister Christine created Bend of the River Magazine, a publication focused on nostalgia and local history. At a time when few women were in business, they launched the magazine which became a touchstone of memories for thousands who would submit photos of former sports teams, employee picnics, graduating classes and any number of glimpses of the region's past. It was common to hear from her readers who would say they looked forward to the monthly magazine, and couples would confess they would squabble about who got to read the issue first. Lee produced the magazine for 50 years--an amazing milestone! Bend of the River was her pride and joy and a work she always referred to as God's gift to her.

Lee was named one of five Outstanding Women of Toledo in 1973 and was active in the downtown Perrysburg business association through the years. She was an early member of the Toledo Ski Club and helped edit Der Slopen Dopam, a newsletter filled with fun and whimsy, along with her friend Larry Boesel. Lee could put anything into rhyme and entertained family and friends with rhyming discourses on life.

In addition to her zest for life, she never met a dog she didn't love, especially her black labs who were devoted to her. She loved travel and especially the many summers at her place in Lakeside, Ohio and winters at what she labeled the "beach shack" on Sanibel Island. For many years she would be the first to plan vacations and long to jump into her VW bug and head to Florida.

She is mourned by her sisters Melanie Ganzel (the late-Joseph), Christine Alexander (John), and dear friend Sharon Simonson. Her nieces Brandy Alexander Wimberly (Andrew) and Rebecca Alexander, and nephew John H. Alexander were especially close to her. She delighted in every new child born to the family and loved grand nieces and nephews Audrey, Alex, Hailey, Christian, Blake, Juliette, Elise and Jack.
