Ronnie L La Mantia

July 10, 1939 — January 18, 2014

Ronnie Lee LaMantia, 74, of Curtice, OH passed away early Saturday morning, January 18, 2014, at St. Charles Hospital. Born July 10, 1939 in Cokesville, PA to Antonio and Mary (Wazelle) LaMantia, Ronnie grew up in East Toledo. He retired from Roadway Express after 30 years of working on the dock. Ronnie loved to hunt and fish and also worked commercial fishing in his early years and after retirement spent some time doing the same and farming vegetables, playing cards and enjoying his many friends. He was a fan of the Steelers and Notre Dame. He restored a 1970 Lyman with his son and spent many days on Lake Erie. He had an obsession with auctions and antiques and was a collector of glassware, hunting and fishing gear, canes and refinished furniture and many treasures which he shared with his friends and family. Ronnie loved to cook for his friends and family and his perch and lasagna dinners were the best. Ronnie has seen many friends pass and he hopes to see them again and catch up on old times. He enjoyed his conversations and visits with his good buddies Billy Ray and Bob and he thanks all those who visited him while he was sick. His family thanks the St. Charles Mercy Home Health and Pain Management staff for all of their help and hard work. Ronnie leaves behind his loving wife, Dianne (Evanoff) of 52 years, who was his primary caregiver during his last few years. A great father, he is survived by his sons Tony (Kathy) and Mike (Angela). Granddaughters Taylor, Kyndal and Jenna shall miss their Grampy dearly and cherish his stories and memory. Surviving Relatives: Jeannette Barnes, Mike & Woneida Evanoff, Bud & Angie Sohnly and many nieces and nephews. “I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord’s great landing net and peacefully asleep that in His mercy I be judged big enough to keep.” Abiding by Ronnie’s wishes, he requested no visitation and he shall be cremated and cast upon Lake Erie. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life at the Toledo Shipyard, 2245 Front St, Toledo, OH, on Saturday January 25, 2014, from 1-6 PM. Arrangements by Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home.
