Ronald Piraino

September 13, 1948 — June 21, 2025

Ronald L. “Ron” Piraino, 76, of Maumee, Ohio passed away on June 21, 2025, at Toledo Hospital.

Born on September 13, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Carl and Millie (Newman) Piraino. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1966 and soon after served his country. Ron served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969 as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division. His bravery and dedication earned him the Army Commendation Medal, a Marksmanship Medal, and the Purple Heart.

On December 12, 1970, Ron married the love of his life, Linda Geitgey. Together, they built a life filled with love and support. Ron began his career as a barber before joining the U.S. Postal Service in 1975, where he served as a dedicated mail carrier until his retirement in 2013.

Ron was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, building model car kits, and collecting vintage radios. A true car enthusiast and movie buff, he also loved visiting Amish Country and tending to his yard with pride. One of his most cherished memories was a cross-country motorcycle trip with his good friend Larry, traveling from Ohio to Maine to Florida.

Those who knew Ron will remember his kind heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his gift for conversation. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and heard, always taking the time to connect with others.

Ron had a sweet tooth and a love for life’s simple pleasures—spaghetti dinners, donuts, watermelon, apple pie, Almond Joy bars, and his nightly treat: a tin roof sundae, which he fondly called “white ice cream, chocolate sauce, and peanuts.”

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Linda Geitgey Piraino; daughter Sherry (Michael) Piraino Schafer ; son Scott Piraino; grandchildren Raegan and Ryan Schafer; brother Norman Piraino; six nieces; and his beloved granddog, Pepper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Millie Piraino.

Ron’s absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him. How can you put into words what you will miss the most about someone who was always there for you, always had your back, and was your biggest supporter?
