Ronald Joseph Parkins, age 78, of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 8, 2025. He was born November 29, 1946 in Tiffin, Ohio to Lloyd and Margaret Parkins.
Ron married his beloved Angel, Doris Hohman, on April 11, 1970. With perfect timing and endless love, he made it to heaven just in time to celebrate their fifty-fifth anniversary.
Ron was an Air Force Veteran and after serving his country became a letter carrier for 37 years. For the past 50 years he was active at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Maumee. He volunteered as an usher/greeter, served on the cemetery board, helped with rummage sales, church festivals and numerous other events. After his ‘retirement’ from the Post Office, he then went on to work at St. Joe’s for 11 years at the cemetery and as a maintenance man at the parish/school.
A hardworking man both at work and home, he was handy at everything and dedicated countless hours to fixing up his kids' houses and working on his yard.
He was also involved in the TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) retreat and the Toledo YES (Youth Elect Service) Project. He and his wife were avid supporters of the University of Toledo men's and women's basketball teams.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his four children: Theresa (David) Cordle of Curtice, OH; Malinda (Steven) Siers of Springfield Township, OH; Brenda (Mark) Osbourne of Monclova Township, OH; and Kevin (Julie) Parkins of Perrysburg, OH. His legacy also lives on through his 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, siblings and their spouses, sister-in-law Diane Hohman (Ken Gipe), nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
Ron was the oldest of 13 siblings; Jerry, deceased, (Terry) Parkins, Marcia (Joe) Wagner, Betty (Dave) Sanchez, Karen (Ed) Kuhn, Anne (Rick, deceased) Carr, Cindy, deceased, Schultz , Jane (Mark) Morgan, Tim Parkins, Tony (Lindsay) Parkins, Chris (Kara Delarber) Parkins, Judy (Ted) Demars, and Brian (Laura) Parkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents, Lloyd and Margaret; grandson, Joshua Siers; sister, Cindy Schultz; brother, Jerry Parkins; brother-in-law Rick Carr, sister-in-law Ruth (Ron) Smith, brother-in-law Floyd (Martha) Hohman, brother-in-law Roy (Ann) Hohman, brother-in-law Merle Hohman, and; parents-in-law Francis and Marie Hohman; nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, located at 501 Conant St., Maumee, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a scripture service scheduled for 7:30 p.m. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 104 West Broadway, Maumee, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
