Ronald J. Kurth

January 9, 1959 — July 22, 2024

Ronald J. “Red” Kurth died on July 22, 2024, at the age of 65. Born to Donald and Shirley (Tarr) Kurth on January 9, 1959, Ron grew up in Toledo and graduated from Macomber High School.

He met Kate Szmania and they were married in 1982. He worked for over 38 years at Libbey Glass and was a fix it man to the core. He was always looking for ways to help others, especially his family. He never quit trying to find a way to help. He was a proud keeper of his garden that grew massive tomatoes that he canned.

Ron enjoyed all sports from an early age with his brothers. In high school he played football and basketball. Later he participated in softball, golf and bowling leagues. He cheered loudly for the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings, but for college football, it had to be The Ohio State Buckeyes!

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Left to cherish his memory, wife, Kate; sons, Jared (Jennifer), Aaron (Hilary); grandchildren, Ethan, Evelyn, Jarhett, London; siblings, Daniel (Julie), Jack (Lauren), Beverly (Jeff) Ennis, and many family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, from 5 pm – 8 pm at the Sujkowski Walker Funeral Home (830 Lime City Road), with a sharing of memories beginning at 7:15 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to Hospice of NW Ohio.
