Ronald Arthur Hill, age 90, passed away peacefully, on January 14, 2023, at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence. Ron was born on December 24, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to Toby and Luella (Fritsche) Hill.
Ron graduated from DeVilbiss High School, in 1950, and was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1953 to 1955. After being discharged from service, he began working for the Ohio Citizens Trust Company, beginning as a commercial teller, and quickly moving up to manager of the discount department. After that, Ron became assistant manager of the Colony branch, then later moving to the newly opened Oregon branch, as assistant manager. In 1962, he became manager of the new Westgate branch, staying there until he opened the branch in Franklin Park Mall, in 1971. In 1975, he went back to the Westgate branch and stayed there until he retired, in 1989. Ron was also one of the founding members of the Kiwanis Club of Westgate, in 1962, and remained the treasurer, until 1989. In addition, Ron was a 32nd degree Mason.
Ron’s love of the outdoors was a great passion of his life. While working, he took his family on many camping trips, traveling throughout the United States, visiting natural wonders and parks- from the oceans to the mountains. Many of these trips also included hiking, fishing, and boating. The trips to the West were one of his favorite destinations. He especially enjoyed bass fishing, taking his boat to fish the lakes in the Ozarks, and down to Florida. After retirement, the travels continued. From spending winters in Florida, taking cruises up to Alaska, and down to Panama, as well as spending time at their cottage on Mud Lake, near Brooklyn, Michigan.
He will be missed by his loving wife, of nearly 65 years, Dorothy; sons, Edward, and Michael (Michelle); grandchildren, Neo and Nova; brother, Jim (Judy); sister, Marilyn Picknell; several nieces and nephews, and special furry felines, Ginger and Smokii.
The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Regency Hospital and the ProMedica Hospice for the compassionate care Ron received in his final days.
Private graveside services and burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
