Ronald E Gould

March 6, 1942 — March 20, 2016

Ronald Edward Gould, 74 of Perrysburg, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at home. Ron, a Toledo native, was born on March 6, 1942 to Evelyn Kemp and graduated from Macomber High School. Ron was raised by his mother and stepfather, Mike McGee. Ron was a Certified Financial Planner and was the principal owner of Ron Gould and Associates. Ron was in the financial planning business for over 43 years of which 20 years included Joyce Vascik as his business partner. In 2005, Pete Ruma joined Ron and they subsequently created Gould Ruma Financial Advisors in 2008. Ron and Joyce, then later with Pete, continued to create long term loyal clients who have made their business what it is today. Ron was always most concerned about his clients and their long term financial welfare. He was the first President of the Toledo-area Financial Planning Association and a leader in the industry. He was very active and worked throughout 2015 and into 2016 even though his illness progressed. He had a total of over 47 years of financial planning experience, all in the Toledo area. He originally worked for Sears in the credit department, then for Western-Southern Insurance before he created Ron Gould and Associates in 1972. Ron was a very caring man, with a warm spirit who gave generously of his time and talents so others could benefit from his expertise. He was sought out for his expert advice and routinely granted interviews and provided his knowledge to others. He was a living example of putting his clients and others first and quite possibly invented the concept of being “soft-spoken” so much so, that at times you could not hear what he was saying and had to often ask him to repeat himself, which of course he did without hesitation yet with a smile. Ron was also an air force veteran who served his country proudly. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and spent some time serving his country at Thule Air Base, Greenland in 1963. He supported organizations who worked with veterans and was an advocate for their well-being too. Ron was very active and loved to fly, shoot at the range, travel and play cards with family and friends. He was a pilot and enjoyed planes and pistol target shooting with friends over the years. He married Joyce Vascik on October 3, 2009 and is survived by her as well as his two (2) sons, Michael and Shawn (Kathleen) Gould and their 3 children, Jonathan, Brendan and McKenna. He had a very special relationship with Joyce’s daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Alan Sattler and their 3 sons, Christian, Ross and Will. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, brother, Clark and sister, Kathleen. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Tim Kasunic and the entire staff and nurses at the Hickman Cancer Center for their outstanding care and compassion. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 9-11 A.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133) where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. with Chaplain Julie Beitelschees officiating. Those wishing to provide a contribution are asked to consider the United Service Organization (USO), PO Box 96860, Washington, DC 20077.
