RONALD K. 'RON' CHIDESTER Ronald K. “Ron” Chidester, 78, of Millbury, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born on October 6, 1938 in Bluffton, Ohio to Kenneth and Pauline (Eikenbury) Chidester. He married Glenna Myer on October 5, 1957. Ron proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Ron was a great lover of animals, having raised many top winning quarter horses as well as top winning dogs. Ron nurtured these animals from the beginning and even enjoyed showing them himself. There was not a moment in a day that Ron didn’t have one or two of his dogs with him wherever he would go. Ron was humbled to be a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Ron was an Ohio State Alumni, supporting the OSU Veterinary Medical College and supporting an athletic scholarship for the Ohio State Football Team. Ron would start to play the Ohio State fight song in August waiting for that first game. Ron was a member of the Ohio Trucking Association, along with owning and operating Tri-State Expediting for over 40 years with his wife Glenna, Tri-State will continue to be operated by his family. Ron is survived by his wife, Glenna and his son Rodney Chidester, siblings, Tom Chidester, Mick Chidester, Robert Chidester, Deb Luginbuhl and half-sister Cheryl Schmiesing. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Kingerly. Friends will be received Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Witzler Shank, 222 East South Boundary, Perrysburg, Ohio. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to The Toledo Area Humane Society.
