Ronald Gene Benefield

Ronald “Benny” G. Benefield, 71, of Martin, Ohio died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Boaz, Alabama on October 20, 1949, the son of Leslie and Irene (Underwood) Benefield. Benny married Leila M. Howard in Monroe, Michigan on July 28, 1969 and she survives. Benny was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years for Bergman Construction retiring in 2002. He loved his wife and family and had an amazing relationship with his grandchildren, Kalee and Kyle. Benny was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction along with poetry, which he wrote. He was proud that some of his compositions were published. He also enjoyed taking motorcycle rides, canoe trips and bicycling all with Leila at his side. Benny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Leila, son, Dennis M Benefield, daughter, Lesley I. Benefield, grandchildren, Kalee J. Doll and Kyle M. Doll, siblings, Elaine (George) Gerkensmeyer, Kenneth (Sharon) Benefield, Rebecca (Joseph) Hoffman, Criss Benefield, Pasty Helmeci, Larry Benefield and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Michael Benefield, Sheila Jensen and Monette Croll. There are no services scheduled at this time.
