Roman J. Michalski

February 4, 1921 — June 29, 2009

Michalski Roman Ray John Roman John Michalski born to Stefania and Michael Michalski, went home to heaven June 29, 2009. Roman was welcomed into this world on February 4, 1921, being born in a home delivery, at 3343 Maple St. Along with his nine siblings, Roman grew up in a very traditional Polish neighbor known as Lagrinka or the Lagrange Street area. Speaking Polish until English was introduced in the second grade, Roman was a typical Polish boy. From the ages of 16 to 18, with the depression crippling most families, Roman left home and joined the three Cs earning $30.00 a month. Allowed to keep $5, with the remainder sent home to help feed and clothed his siblings. In 1941, at the age of 20, Roman joined the Army serving our country well earning several medals and a Honarable Discharge. On a 30-day leave during the war, Ray met the love of his life, Rose Ceravolo. They married on August 24, 1946, and in the following years welcomed five children; Michael Janet, Mark Sandra, Victor, Dino Dawn, and Gina-Marie Larry A. Kaczala. They were blessed with ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Rose sadly passed away on March 29, 1999. After retiring from Jeep Corporation, Ray enjoyed 24 wonderful years of retirement. Ray and Rose were life-long members of St. Pius X church. Preceding him in death were siblings; Vincent, Frank, Harriet, and Alice. Surviving are Irene, John, Stanley, Theodore and Daniel. Friends and family may visit the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., west of Corey Rd. on Wednesday from 3-8 pm with Scripture Service at 7 pm. Funeral services will begin Thursday with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 am followed by a mass of the Christian burial at St. Pius X, 3011 Carskaddon. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and especially the compassionate care given by the employees of St. Anns Hospital. The family also wishes to thank the compassion, concern and professionalism of Dr. Fateh Ahmed.
