Romaine Stawowy

Romaine Mary Stawowy, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully Monday, May 5, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, surrounded by her loving family. Romaine was born November 29, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio to Henry and Jane (Dana) Stawowy.

Romaine worked for the City of Toledo for over 30 years and retired from the Division of Solid Waste. She was part of the affirmative action department in the 1970’s. Romaine studied art at Columbus College of Art & Design. She was an accomplished artist and award-winning photographer. She enjoyed going on bus trips and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her significant other of 40 years, Fred Smith; daughter, Dawn (Alicia) Stawowy; granddaughter, Tifa Daniels and sisters, Chris (Dennis) Reineke and Darlene (Marlin) Worstell. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Romaine’s name to the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg or the Toledo Metroparks.
