Rollin F. Barshel, 90, of Graytown, Ohio, died Monday, November 30, 2009, in the Genoa Retirement Village. Rollin was born May 18, 1919, in Trowbridge, Ohio, to Edward J. and Ella Siefke Barshel. On March 8, 1941, in Elliston, Ohio, he married Virginia L. Kern, who survives him. Rollin was a lifetime farmer and a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Elliston, where he served on the Building Committee when the fellowship hall was built, was treasurer of the church Brotherhood, and had also served as Trustee. Rollin was a Benton Township clerk for 20 years and then a trustee for 8 years following. Besides farming, Rollin worked as a pipefitter for the American Shipbuilding of Toledo and Hans Hansen of Toledo and retired after 13 years from L.O.F. East Broadway plant. His many hobbies, besides his love of farming, included traveling, photography, boating and fishing, and yard work, especially tending his rose gardens. In addition to his wife, Ginny, of 68 years, Rollin is survived by his daughters, Beverly Harry Blausey of Newark, OH, and Gloria Buck, of Walbridge, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. His parents and sister, Marilyn Hellwig, preceded him death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009, in Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Rollin to Zion United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
