Roland Richard R. Berhent

Roland R. Berhent, 84, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 19, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Edmund and Ida (Richert) Berhent. He was a US Army Veteran. On February 4, 1961 he married Laurel Krause and she survives. Roland retired as the Corporate Director of Taxation at Volvo Construction in Cleveland, Ohio, and then opened Berhent Tax and Business Service in Fairview Park, Ohio. He was an enrolled agent as well as a preferred agent for the Ohio Society of Enrolled Agents, Division of the I.R.S. Retiring in 2001, Roland and Laurel moved to the family cottage that he helped his father build. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury Township serving as treasurer, Bible class leader and even gave several sermons. Roland loved his family and the gatherings that they had. He enjoyed boating, gardening, woodworking, and always had a dog by his side. He and Laurel were able to see much of the USA and parts of Canada with the Oak Harbor Bus group. They also enjoyed seeing the Rockies, the Southwest and Canadian Rockies by rail. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Laurel; daughter, Louise (Bill) Rettig; sons, Brian (Lori) Berhent, and Scott (Anila) Berhent; grandchildren, Brandon & Katie Berhent and Dajana & Kevin Gjyerzi; sister, Lorraine Grace; and brother, Dennis (Linda) Berhent and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Berhent. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Beth Westphall, 2PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 Church Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio 43440. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Face Masks are required and social distancing guidelines must be observed.
