Roger Scott Smith of Catawba Island passed away, August 04, 2009 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH. He was born on June 24, 1946 in Detroit, MI, the son of Donald Dee and Kuna Johanna Vanderzee Smith. On August 30, 1968 in Detroit, MI, he married Gail Marie Pilkington and she survives. Roger was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Honeywell after 30 years of service. Roger attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. Roger always had a smile on his face. He loved boating, repairing things and working outside. Roger will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 40 years: Gail Marie Smith of Catawba Island; Daughters: Lisa Marie Mark Smith Colella of Cleveland, OH and Laura Ann Smith of Cleveland, OH; Brother: Dr. Donald Dee Donna Jean Smith of Casper, WY; Sister-In-Law: Judith Ann William Nestra of Flint, MI and many loving nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader and Rev. Arnold Rip Jackson at 3:00PM, Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial donations may be given to Stein Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been handled by the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH.
