Roger D Moser

December 17, 1935 — September 18, 2023

Roger Moser went to heaven on Monday morning, September 18, 2023, after he suffered a stroke on August 23, 2023.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Welcome Moser, brothers Jim and Frank Moser, brothers-in-law Bill Rickle, Mick Clay, and Buddy Glanzer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Moser, Children, Becky (Tom) Marks, Brian (Tracy) Moser, and Colleen Dezsi. Also surviving is Betty Jean Moser, (Roger's first wife). Siblings; Phylis Rickle, Carol Clay, Lester (Jennifer) Moser Jr., and Joyce Glanzer. Sister-in-law; Diane (Danny) McCoy, brother-in-law, Ed (Sandra) Carr. Grandchildren; Jacob Marks, Zachary Marks, Celia Moser, Emily (Joe) Mechenbier, Gabriella Dezsi, and Bradley Dezsi.

Roger brought the work ethic from his farming upbringing in Wharton, Ohio to everything he did. He had a successful 341/2 year career in the Toledo Public School System that started as a science teacher at Glenwood School and quickly progressed to administration as a principal at Navarre Elementary, McKinley Elementary, and Leverette Junior High School. He held many system-wide leadership positions as well.

Roger was an exceptionally handy person who always had projects going and was willing to help anyone in need. He was a jack of all trades and was able to fix almost anything just by studying how it was supposed to work. A valued skill learned on the farm and continued throughout his life.

He was most noted for his passion for The Ohio State University, as a 1957 graduate and Varsity O member, having played Lacrosse 1955-1957. He was fortunate to play in the Lacrosse All-star game competing against Jim Brown from Syracuse. He loved collecting buckeyes and making necklaces, earrings, and zipper pulls. He delighted in sharing the zipper pulls with anyone who loved Ohio State. He served for several years as the president of the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Lucas County, which he helped raise money for the Robert Momsen Scholarship fund, that would help incoming freshmen from Lucas County attend OSU.

Roger's family is grateful for the compassionate care of the staff at Toledo Hospital, Sunset House, and the EMS crew responding in Roger's hour of need.

Roger spent his life trying to do the best he could and make things better for those around him. He loved to give hugs to people whenever the opportunity arose. Roger wanted his family and friends to remember that he loves them and looks forward to seeing them again. Go Bucks! "87"
