Roger W. Miller, 76, of Genoa, died Monday evening, with his boys by his side, October 20, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Roger was born December 19, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, to Carl and Leona (Draper) Miller. On January 31, 1958, in Genoa he married Sandra J. Suto and she preceded him in death November 23, 2002. He retired from AES/CES Perrysburg, OH, in the supervision of removal of hazardous materials on job sites. In the 1970’s and 80’s he also worked at Harbor Mfg., Genoa OH, Northern Mfg., Oak Harbor, OH, and Chrysler Machining, Perrysburg, OH. He worked at Permaglass/Guardian Industries and Citgo Service Station in Genoa, OH, during the 1960s. Roger was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Elmore, where he served as Deacon for many years. He also served in the Reserves of the U.S. Air Force. His time spent together with his wife, Sandy, included bowling, which he placed top 24 in the PBA event in Florida and many Thanksgiving golf outings to Myrtle Beach with friends. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycling and visiting the covered bridges of Ohio; but his favorite enjoyment was family vacations. Rogers other pastimes were fishing on his boat on Lake Erie, working on drag racing cars with his boys, and rabbit, pheasant and, his favorite, coon hunting. Roger was an honorary member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and received the 1000-mile Iron Butt Award. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery (Robin) Miller of Oak Harbor and Timothy (Deb) Miller of Millbury; grandchildren, Tiffany (Tom) Turner, Casey Miller, Dustin and Austin Flores; great grandchildren, Taylor, TyleeJean, Tomee and Texas Ann Turner; and brother, Gary (Linda) Miller. His parents, wife, Sandy, and sister, Shirley Baer, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 448 E. Rice St., Elmore. Burial will take place in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, at a later date. Memorials for Roger may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551; or to a cancer related charity of the donors choice. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
