Roger Long, 74, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 17, 2011, at his residence. Roger was born on June 21, 1937 in Bellville, OH, the son of Earnest and Edythe Rush Long. He was a graduate of Bellville High School in 1955 and OSU in 1959 where he was the sports editor for the Lantern. He attended Mexico City College where he was a writer for the English Mexico City Times. On June 15 1991, he married Novella Rose King and she survives. After retiring from Long Durnell Ins. Co., he taught at Terra Technical College and was a librarian at the Ida Rupp Public Library in Port Clinton, OH. He was an avid historian and researcher. Roger was a writer and editor of the Blue Gray Magazine. He was very active with Playmakers Civic Theatre. Roger will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife: Novella Rose King of Port Clinton, OH; Daughter: Lisa; Son: Andy Margaret Long of Troy, MI; Stepson: Jacob King of Bowling Green, OH; Grandchildren: Maximillian, Maddeleine and Ethan. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Fred Ralph Long and sister: Bonita. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Playmakers Civic Theatre, 604 W. 6th St, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Roger may be given to Playmakers Civic Theatre, P. O. Box 149, Port Clinton, OH 43452. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
