Roger B. Dean

Roger B. Dean, age 91, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee surrounded by his family. He was born in Gibsonburg, Ohio on April 23, 1926 to George and Helen (Zeller) Dean. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. As a young man, Roger enjoyed fishing and playing tennis with his brothers and many neighborhood friends in the family backyard. After returning from the war, Roger served as a salesman traveling in New York, Canada, and Indiana. Eventually he went to work for Wallace and Schwartz Cigars until taking a position with Spangler Candy and Tobacco Company in Toledo, Ohio where he was a sales manager and later promoted to President. In retirement, Roger enjoyed being with his family, playing chess, golfing, fishing, woodworking, traveling, photography, and spending time with his dogs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years and a long-time member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Maumee. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn P. (Burdo) Dean; daughters, Lori D. (Matthew) Swiergosz, Linda H. (Gary) Conley; grandchildren Grant, Hannah, Blake, David, and great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roger was proceeded in death by his brothers, Frank A., George C. and John L. Dean. Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Pauls Episcopal, 310 Elizabeth Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg.
