Oltmans Rodney Papa Rodney Papa Oltmans passed away April 10, 2009 from complications of M.S. He bravely battled the disease for 20 years. Rodney was born August 6, 1944 in Heron Lake, MN to Thomas and Pearl Oltmans. He was a refrigerator and air conditioning repairman and a certified welder for the DeVilbiss Company until his retirement in 1989. He also served proudly for the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965 to 1969. Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He celebrated 40 years of marriage to his special angel, Janet. Rodney was a well loved and caring person and will be greatly missed by many. Rodney was preceded in death by both of his parents; two sisters; and his son-in-law, Trae. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Brett Steve daughter, Yvette Brown Roy; grandson, Travis Brown, Jr., granddaughter, Abby Oltmans; great-granddaughter, Beverly; brother, Richard Janice; sisters, Bonnie, Chris, and Mary; several nieces and nephews and in-laws; and special friend, Judy Brett. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on South Detroit for the loving care they gave Rodney. Rodney will be cremated and services will be private.
