Rodger Dale Voorhees, 71, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 after a long battle with cancer and other heart problems. He was born April 16, 1953 to Dorothy and James Voorhees.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietman as an Army Ranger during the war. Following his honorable discharge, he went to work at CSX Railroad for 27 years, and then worked at Drawbridge Marina for 17 years until his retirement.
He was an active member of Truth Ministries Church, having recommitted his life to the LORD, through the guidance of Pastor Brian Hild. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, golfing with his friends, and dancing…. But he had a gift to make others laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya Voorhees of 20 years marriage; sons, Rodger Ries (Dana) of Willard, Benjamin Voorhees (Tiffany) of Plymouth, OH; step-son, Paul Breit of Warren, OH; step-daughter, Katie Smith of Ontario, OH; sisters, Patricia Mathis of Fremont, OH, Judy Govig (Mike) of Pikeville, TN, Vonda Feltner (Mike) of Willard, OH, Teresa Faircloth, of Willard, OH; brothers, James Voorhees (Cindy) of Republic, OH, DanielVoorhees (Joanie) of Vermilion, OH, Bill Feltner of Columbus, OH, and Terry Feltner (Sandy) of Willard, OH; 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Vondel Feltner/James Voorhees; sister, Deborah Windsor; brothers, Eugene Voorhees, James McClure, David Feltner, and brother in-law, Fred Mathis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11 am at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio.
