Robin R. Rob Whitner

Robin “Rob” R. Whitner, 63, of Perrysburg, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Toledo, OH to Phillip A. and Judith (Crane) Whitner on January 31, 1955. Rob was a 1973 graduate of Perrysburg High School where he played football and baseball. His love of sports continued through his adulthood while he helped to coach many children in various youth sports. He also worked hard as an advocate to revive the Big Gold football program in Perrysburg. Rob began his career in management working as a transportation manager at Crown Cork & Seal. He then went on to manage at Renhill Group, Holiday Park Athletic Club, and Josephine’s restaurant. He then worked for many years as a Sales Manager for Ed Schmidt Pontiac GMC & Truck. Most recently working for Brondes Ford. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church Perrysburg Campus and was very active there in various committees and organizations. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Rob was an avid OSU fan and was looking forward to retiring to his condo in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Rob is survived by his wife, Lorena P. Daza; children, Phillip Robert Whitner, Michelle Lyn Whitner, Judith Catherine Whitner; step-daughter, Olivia Brezinski; step-son, Carlos Daza; grandchildren, Michael, Danny, Jocelyn; brothers, Donald (Dana) Whitner, Douglas (Stephanie) Whitner; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Whitner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Whitner, and Cynthia Curtis. Friends will be received on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133). A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Creek Church Perrysburg Campus, 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Burial will be private.
