Robin Patton (Pat) Markland, 77, of Perrysburg, died after a long illness on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Pat was born on January 19, 1949, in Toledo to Eugene and Dorothy (Brown) Markland, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Alice (Werner) Markland, and his older brother, John.
Pat graduated from Libbey High School in 1968. After high school, Pat was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served 13 months in Vietnam (1969-1970), receiving a Purple Heart for a combat injury. Pat worked for the Toledo Fire Department from 1975 until his retirement in 1987. He continued working in sales, including real estate, restaurant equipment, and cemetery monuments. For many years, he was co-owner of the very popular PJ's Lounge at Southland Shopping Center.
Pat was involved with many businesses, veterans, and community organizations, including the Exchange Club of Maumee and the Old Newsboys of Toledo for 20 years, during which he proudly served as their president from 2009-2010 and as their chaplain from 2017 through 2023.
Pat is survived by his daughter, Mindi (Matt) Marshall; grandsons, Miller and Macsen; stepdaughters, Tracey (Steve) Edwards and Michelle (Kelly) Kriner; grandchildren, Nick (Catherine) Edwards, Dana Kriner, and Delanie (Garrett) Dickie; great-grandchildren, Mason Edwards and Eloise Dickie; and brothers, Jim (Judy Ruple) Markland and Skip (Bonnie) Markland.
The family would like to thank and extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Waterford at Levis Commons, Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the excellent and loving care Pat received over the past two years. The family would also like to thank Pat's lifelong best friend, John Tharp, who was there for him continuously during Pat's health issues.

Services will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 24250 N. Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, Ohio, on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. Guests are invited to a luncheon immediately following the funeral service at the Maumee Elks, 139 W. Wayne St., Maumee, Ohio. A private interment will be held between the Mass and the luncheon.
