On January 24, 2017 in Perrysburg, Ohio Roberta entered through the gates of heaven peacefully, as she was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Roberta was born on January 4, 1936 to Edward and Mary Ellen Beauregard. Famed with the cover of the Toledo Blade as the first set of twins in the city of Toledo in 1936, Birdie (Bertie) was destined for perseverance. Losing her mother at the age of twelve to leukemia, Birdie played an important role in her family as one of the eldest siblings. She met the love of her life and late husband, Joe at a young democrats of Toledo networking event and married July 13, 1957. Together, they raised five children in west Toledo. Bert spent her time passionately as a nurse in the pediatrics department and later was a dialysis technician for the Mercy System. Caring for both adults and infants, her tenderness was well remembered by a phrase that the grandchildren know well, “Give me a smooch, cooch.” Roberta is survived by her son, Thomas Tate; daughters, Elizabeth (John Barba) Siefert, Suzanne(Brian) Screptock, Cynthia (Steve) Lodzinski, and Deborah (Mark) Fisher; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Debbie (Mike) Justen, Pam Jacobs, Vicki (Buzz) Loob, Renee Rygalski, Denny Treesh, Gina Beauregard; brothers, Robert (Karol) Beauregard and Ron (Rose) Beauregard; brothers-in-law, Robert Reisser and Michael (Margaret) Tate; sisters-in-law Mary Edgeworth, Lois Tate, and Rose Beauregard. She will be missed dearly by her lifelong friends Bernie and Leta Cherry, together their families spent many summers camping and vacationing at Bear Lake. Mimi has been reunited with her three grandsons in heaven, Corey Carpenter, Eric Fisher, and Timothy Siefert; her late husband Joe and baby Tate. She is also preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mary Ellen Beauregard; step mother, Rita Beauregard; in-laws, Robert and Marie Tate; sisters, Rosalind Reisser and Rita (Tinker) Beauregard; brother, Edward Beauregard Jr.; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Tate and Kathleen Lindeman; brothers-in-law, Robert and Jack (John) Tate, James Edgeworth, and son-in-law Matthew Trace. A celebration of life service will be held at Blessed St. John XXII Catholic Community, 24250 Dixie Hwy, Perrysburg, Ohio on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. where the family will greet visitors after 9:30 AM. The interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Oregon, Ohio at 1:30 PM. The family asks that contributions in Bert’s honor be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 River Rd. Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 ( http://www.hospicenwo.org/giving/giving/). Birdie, Bertie, Bert, Mom, and Mimi will be missed but not forgotten. As she said herself, this cancer was for the birds. “I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” —Mark Twain
