Robert J. Wood, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at his home in Toledo surrounded by his family. Robert was born June 7, 1930 in Tecumseh, MI to Jason and Hilda Wood. He was veteran of the US Army serving in the 187th Airborne. Robert re-enlisted after his initial discharge and served in the 187th Airborne Infantry Rakkasans during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his service. Robert worked at AP Parts for 25 years and was a mail carrier for USPS for 7 years. He enjoyed staying busy and worked several different jobs after retiring from the postal service. Robert loved cooking and fishing. He and his family had an annual bass fishing tournament at Lake Barton in Michiana which they called the Bar-Mich Cup. He also loved to learn and spent countless hours at the library. Robert is survived by his wife, Mildred; children, Henry Sandra Rose, Colleen Jim Willhauck, and Robert Kathy Rose; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine and Dolly; and faithful dog, Mandy.. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sean Wood; and daughter, Cheryl Misch. Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
