Robert “Rob” William Wight, 82, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on April 3, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Clayton and Mary (Michnay) Wight.
Rob was a graduate of Euclid High School and Case Western Reserve University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He worked for 3M in Minnesota until his retirement.
He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church on Catawba Island and was a firm believer in his Lord and Savior. He had his pilot’s license and would travel between his job in Minnesota and his house on Middle Bass Island where he enjoyed entertaining his family and friends and going ice fishing in the wintertime.
Survivors include his first cousins, Ruth Paul and Jeff Bugbee; second cousins, William Gable, Thomas Gable, Suzanne (Gable) Mohler, Barry Noll, and Amy (Noll) Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Captain Thomas A. Wight, USN, Retired.
Visitation will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2370 NE Catawba Road, Port Clinton, Ohio on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10 am until Funeral Services at 11 am with Pastor Christopher Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, or to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Clinton.
