Robert D. Weemes, Sr

Robert D. Weemes, Sr, age 78, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home in Toledo. Bob was born February 1, 1933 in Union City, TN to Doyle and Pearl Weemes. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball in his younger years and also liked bowling and fishing. Bob worked in manufacturing for the construction industry at Schultz Homes and Pella Windows. After he retired, he worked at the Holiday Inn as a shuttle driver. Everything in Bobs life was centered around Christ and his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was an active member of Westgate Chapel. Bob is survived by his wife, Norma; sons, Robert D., Jr. Sue, Ted Shelly, and Karl Weemes; daughters, Rebecca Flory Jeff, Elizabeth Sorge Tim, and Susan Hatcher Dale; 37 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Prince. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sherry Malone; and grandchildren, Richard, and Robert D. Weemes, III. The Weemes family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to ProMedica Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Bob during his illness. Friends may visit from 2-9:00pm on Sunday at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. and on Monday from 10-11:00am at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr. Toledo, OH 43617 where a celebration of Bobs life will follow at 11:00am.
