Robert R. Thomas, Jr.

Robert R. Thomas, Jr., 88, passed away on July 15, 2012 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living in Lambertville, MI. He was the oldest son of Robert and Mae (Pernell) Thomas, born on April 17, 1924, in Frackville, PA. He graduated in 1943 from Waite High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. On June 16, 1946, he married Ruth Roberts and they raised their family on Idaho St. in East Toledo. Bob retired from LOF in 1979 as a tank foreman. Bob and Ruth enjoyed summers at Marble Lake and winters in Riverview, FL before moving there. After Ruth’s death he moved to Seffner, FL and married his second wife, Pat. A year and a half ago, he moved back up north to be near his family. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and square dancing. He leaves to cherish his memories, son, Robert (Cathy) III; daughters, Cindy Thomas, Cherie (Tim) Minnick and Teri (Jim) Fry; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mae Ruth Wolfe and Edward Thomas; wife, Ruth of 50 years and second wife, Pat. Special thanks to the staffs at Oakleaf Village, Aspen Grove and Erie West Hospice for their loving care. Friends will be received Friday, July 20, 2012 from 10:00-12:00 PM in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held following the visitation at 12:00 PM with his nephew, Pastor Edward Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Erie West Hospice.
