Robert B. Sweney

Robert B. Sweney, Jr., affectionately to his family as “Buz” and “Bob” to his friends, passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on June 14, 1943, in Marion, Ohio, to Robert B. and Lanora D. Sweney.

Bob dedicated more than four decades to education. He began his teaching career at Mason High School in Erie, Michigan, and later taught at Owens Community College and the University of Toledo. In addition to his teaching, he held several professional positions, including work in Statistical Process Control.

Outside of his professional life, Bob enjoyed spending time at his Florida home in River Ranch Resort with family whenever possible. He loved sailing on his sailboat, good food, and his weekly Tuesday card games at Bard’s in Perrysburg.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Sweney; children, Beth Sweney, Kate (Trent Thornton), John Sweney, and Andrew Sweney; granddaughter, Maddy; and sisters, Sue Ashley and Marcia Bearly. He was preceded in death by his parents.
