Robert E. Swartout, 94, of Holland, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Hospice in Perrysburg. He was born on June 29, 1922 in Lima, Ohio to Clarence and Esther Swartout. He proudly served as a Fighter Pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II and later married Barbara M. Fields on December 9, 2001. Bob worked for over 35 years as a Building Inspector for the city of Toledo, before retiring in 1988. He was a longtime member of Monclova Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Cathy (Chuck) Kogge; grandson, Brian Kogge; step-daughters, Erika (Terry) Yoder, Andrea Kuhr, Jennifer (Rich) Friel, Taryn (Lance) Miley; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Jennifer Kogge. Services for Bob will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH 43560 with entombment to follow in the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, OH.
