Robert L Swanson

Robert L. Swanson, 78, of Swanton and formerly of Perrysburg, OH died, Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Lakes of Monclova. He was born in Perrysburg on May 6, 1938 to Robert R. and Inez M. (Finch) Swanson. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Perrysburg High School and immediately entered the U.S. Air Force upon graduation. After being honorably discharged from the service, he enrolled at Bowling Green State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1964 and earned his membership in the international business honor society of Beta Gamma Sigma as well as the accounting honor society, Beta Alpha Psi. He was married on, October 11, 1967, in Perrysburg to Doris Kramer. In 1967 he also received his Ohio license as a Certified Public Accountant and began work as a financial and tax auditor at the U.S. General Accounting Office. In the many years to follow he worked as an accountant, analyst, auditor, and treasurer for Ernst and Ernst, Whinney Murray, and Jennison Wright. In 1976 he hired as the Chief Financial Officer at Fulton Industries, later becoming its President and C.E.O. In the 1970’s Bob was active in the Perrysburg Youth Athletics programs serving in both administrative and coaching positions for youth football, baseball and basketball. He is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Steve M. (Christine) Swanson of Rossford, Robert E. Swanson of Bowling Green, OH and Kathy L. (Scott Bergstreser) Swanson of Monclova; grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Joe, Sophia, Marlena, Brittany, Savannah, Hunter, Sarah, and Audrey; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Linda) Swanson and Lloyd (Pam) Swanson; sister, Gaye (Mark Brumbaugh) Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe Swanson. A private graveside service will be held at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
