Robert L. Stroud, age 90, of Toledo, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Flower Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A native of Toledo, Bob was born March 19, 1921 to the late Harry and Florence Willard Stroud. He married Norma Jean Lester on April 26, 1947 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2006. A graduate of Whitmer High School, Bob served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed in the electrical department at Jeep for 38 years, retiring in 1981. Bob was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and VFW Post 2898 in Toledo, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards at the Sylvania Senior Center. Bob lived life to the fullest and will be lovingly remembered for his friendly, out-going nature and for his keen sense of humor. Left to cherish his memory are a son, Michael Stroud and wife Sherry; and grandsons, Jason Stroud and wife Staci, and Jared Stroud. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2012. Committal services and burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of NW Ohio or to the American Heart Association.
