Robert H. Strauss

Robert H. Strauss age 83 of Toledo died Saturday February 9th, 2008 at the Manor at Perrysburg surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 22, 1924, the only child of William and Hilda Strauss. After graduating from Lakewood High School in Cleveland, he entered Miami University at Oxford where he enrolled in the Navy V-12 program. During WWII, Bob served in the South Pacific for 3 years as an officer aboard the L.S.T. 1047. After the war, he returned to Miami University where he met his future wife, Susan Carrithers. They graduated in June, 1947 and were married 2 weeks later. Two years later, he graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Forestry. Bob was employed by the Texas Forest Service in Lufkin, TX, and later with Jennison-Wright Corporation in Toledo as a chief sales engineer until his retirement in 1984. Bob enjoyed golfing, boating, volleyball, symphonies, and elderhostils. Bob was very active at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Maumee. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Susan; daughters, Kathryn Joe Rainer of Onsted, MI and Leslie Milauc of Maumee; grandchildren, Ann Turner, Joe Rainer, Jeff Megan Rainer, Emily Milauc and Great-granddaughter, Kathryn Turner. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Tuesday from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 pm at St. Pauls Episcopal Church 310 Elizabeth St. Maumee. Interment will follow in Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. The family would like to thank their friends for their love and support and the staff at the Manor at Perrysburg for their wonderful, loving care. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church Respite Care Program or the charity of the donors choice.
