Robert Starnes

Robert Starnes, 80, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Friday, October 30, 2015 at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. Bob was born on October 20, 1935 in Rogersville, TN, the son of Rex and Della Mae (Crawford) Starnes. He was the owner/operator of Bob’s Gulf Service Center from 1977 to 1987; he retired from Sullivan’s Dealership in 1997 and worked at the NAPA store in Port Clinton for 8 years. On October 09, 1981 he married Constance (Connie) Beeker and she survives. Bob was a member of the Port Clinton Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, an usher and helped with maintenance. For many years, Bob volunteered at the Ottawa County Humane Society. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work, flowers and was an all around handyman. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 34 years: Constance (Connie) Starnes; Sons: Gregory (Melody Fellhauer) Starnes and James (Jennifer) Starnes; Grandchildren: Melanie (Mike) Shea, Anna (Kevin) Taylor, Brian, Zachary and Bradyn Starnes; Great-Grandchildren: Sebastian and Gabriel Taylor and Meghan Shea; Siblings: Ruth Hoard, Forest (Rose) Starnes, Margaret Goodson and Kenneth (Judy) Starnes. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mildred Huntley and Thelma Williams. Visitation will be 4-8PM, Sunday, November 01, 2015, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Robert Butcher at 11:00AM, Monday, November 02, 2015 at the Port Clinton Baptist Church, Port Clinton, OH. Private interment will be in Gibsonburg Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be given to the UH Seidman Cancer Center, Fireland’s Branch, Gas Food Card Program, 1111 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Fountains ferrell cat house fund in care of the family.
