Robert Lee Spence, 53, of Port Clinton, passed away suddenly Friday, June 1, 2018 at Magruder Hospital. Robert was born on May 26, 1965 in Bowling Green, OH to Robert W. and Pamela J. (Cover) Spence. Robert most recently worked as a paving operator for the Shelley Co. in Maumee, OH and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. He also had a love for music and played guitar, drums, and sang. Robert is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Dan Gurney) Spence, 2 granddaughters, Victoria Rose and Aniyah Rose, mother, Pamela Merkle, sister, Valerie Spence, companion, Anna Kimmet and her 3 daughters, Kendra, Kyla, and Kira, former wife, Mary Wilson, step-mother, Virginia Spence, nephew, James (Sadie Williams) Merkle, great nephew, Waylon Merkle, and his beloved dogs, Brody & Boo. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Spence and his step-father, Robert A. Merkle. Memorial services for Robert will be conducted by Pastor Chuck Kaylor 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor, OH. A potluck bereavement dinner will follow the services at daughter Danielles house. In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be made in care of the family.
