Robert Bob Sieler, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at The Toledo Hospital after a brief illness. Bob was born June 2, 1931 to Michael and Madeline Sieler. He graduated from Macomber High School in 1949. He was an outstanding athlete playing football at Central High School his freshman year, baseball and basketball at Macomber High School his remaining high school years where he was awarded a medal for his athletics. He was a pitcher in the AA League of the Toledo Amateur Baseball Federation in 1951. He served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed as an appliance salesman at Sears, retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service. Bob enjoyed hunting, golf, card games and playing the piano. He and his wife, Lois spent many summers with family and friends fishing, swimming and boating at their cottage on Sand Lake in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Lyons Sieler; children, Lynette Sieler of Erie, Michigan and Scott Sieler of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Mary Ellen Sieler of Toledo, Ohio; brother, James Sieler of Perth, Australia; niece, Ingrid Ted Sieler Leunig and their family of Perth, Australia and nephew, Michael Sieler and his family of Hobart, Tasmania. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 11 from 2 to 8 pm at the Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., west of Corey Rd. where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at the church of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 4227 Bellevue Rd., Thursday, May 12 at 11 am. Burial will be private.
