Robert L. "Bob" Shafer

Robert L. “Bob” Shafer age 89 of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 27, 2022.  Bob was born in Toledo on April 19, 1932, to Charles L. and Thelma (Mohler) Shafer.

Bob was employed as a pipefitter for General Motors and New York Central Railroad.  Always humming on the job, many knew Bob as “Hummer the plumber”.

Bob was a member of Calvary Church in Maumee, where he loved serving the Lord and men’s fellowship. He also enjoyed washing his car and spending time with his family.

Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Shafer; son, Dale (Sheri) Shafer; granddaughter, Tiffany (Adam) Henry; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Lincoln Henry and brother, Don (Mitzi) Shafer.  In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara.

Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 12:30 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
