ROBERT R. SELF Robert “Bob” Self, age 88 of Holland passed away on June 7, 2013 at Spring Meadows Extended Care Community. Bob was born in Emporia, Kansas on September 20, 1924 to Robert L. & Alice Mae (Stephans) Self. He married Delora Meyer in Holland on August 15, 1992. An Army Air Corps Veteran, Bob attended Providence Lutheran Church, was a member of the The Toledo Area Exchange Club, Gideon’s International and the IFPA. In 1972 he founded the The Key Shoppers’ News, Inc., a free local news publication which continues to provide advertisers and readers with a quality product that is delivered weekly to over 24,000 homes. Prior to The Key Shoppers’ News, he was a sales consultant for many years traveling all over the United States. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Delora, one sister, Rosetta McAnally; two sons, David Self, and Jim Self; four daughters, Miriam Self; Naomi (Glen) Lindahl; Rebecca (Gary) Buhler; Marty (Alan) McEheney; two step-children, Harvey Schroder & Connie Michaelis; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sarah Self and 2 brothers, Friends will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 4-8 pm Monday, June 10, 2013. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 10-11 am at the Providence Lutheran Church, 8131 Airport Highway, Holland where funeral services will begin at 11 am with Pastor Dennis King officiating. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions go to Gideon International; Providence Lutheran Church or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
