Robert H. Schultz was born on July 20, 1929 to Henry and Della Fincham Schultz. He died December 6, 2010 in his home with his family at his side. He graduated from Macomber High School in Drafting in 1947. Bob was named to All-City team in basketball his senior year. He played basketball for one year at the University of Toledo. He earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University. He also earned a Masters degree from UT. He taught at Sylvania Burnham and at Maumee High School. Bob coached several sports at both schools. He started wrestling at Maumee. In 1956 after Rogers High School was built, he was hired as its first head basketball coach. After being named Assistant Principal, his last team won the Great Lakes League Championship. He became the principal of Rogers in 1960. Adams Township was annexed to the City of Toledo and Bob was later reassigned as Principal of Macomber and Whitney High Schools in 1970. He retired in 1982. He was active in South Toledo Kiwanis, Old Newsboys, and St. Petri Lutheran Church. He enjoyed walking, golfing, fishing, and gardening. His favorite times were at the cottage in Coldwater, MI, where he would spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Eric, and daughter Kristine Dowgiert. He has two granddaughters, Shawna and Sheila Dowgiert, and one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Howard. He is also survived by his sister, Joanne Manzek. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 2-9 pm where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Petri Lutheran Church.
