Robert Gustav Schraidt

Robert G. Schraidt, 90, of Catawba Island, passed away, Wednesday, August 08, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on June 11, 1928, in Catawba Island, the son of Gustav J. and Abigail M. (Hannan) Schraidt. On April 1, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he married Patricia “Patty” L. Howerth and she survives. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Department of Defense and retired in 1979 from the Pentagon. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #113, the Elk’s Lodge #1718, and the Knights of Columbus, all of Port Clinton. He was a Catawba Island Township trustee for 12 years and a fireman for 7 years for the Catawba Island Vol. Fire Dept. Bob enjoyed growing fruit and owned a Peach Orchard for many years. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife of 68 years: Patricia “Patty” L. Schraidt; Son: Joseph (Cheri) Schraidt; Daughters: Pam Schraidt, Teresa (Jeff) Thomas, Cynthia (Brian) Mahoney and Abigale Schraidt; 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandson. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother: John Henry Schraidt and sister: Rosemary McCarthy. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Monday, August 13, 2018 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by family prayers at 9:30am, Tuesday, in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery.
