Robert L. Roller of Whitehouse passed away peacefully Monday evening April 25, 2011, at his home after a long illness. He was born to Robert B. and Vera Tighe Roller in Zanesville. He graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Central Catholic High School. He also attended the University of Toledo. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the destroyer escort USS Damato. After the service he retuned to the family business, Matheny Roller Ford, Inc. in Waterville, and later he worked for Johns Manville Corporation and Ray Greene Sailboat Company. He coached CYO grade school and high school football teams and was a member of St. Joseph Church where he was an usher until his illness. In 1961 he married his wife, Geneva Dennis. Together they raised two children. He loved his family and was proud of their achievements. Robert will be remembered as a fun loving person. He always enjoyed cocktail hour with his martini every afternoon. He was a great husband, dad and grandpa. Bob enjoyed reading, playing golf, trips to Disney and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Geneva; son, Raymond Teresa Roller of Ashtabula; daughter, Jenny David Rogers of Whitehouse; his pride and joy grandchildren, Seth and Evan Rogers of Whitehouse. Also nephews, Patrick Annette Carroll, Scott Carroll, Tim Kay Carroll, Don Linda Ollila, David Debbie Ollila, and Jim Ollila. His parents and sister, Patricia Ollila preceded him in death. Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Friday, April 29 from 2-8 pm where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 pm. Prayers will begin at 9:30 am, Saturday, from the funeral home followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Toledo Humane Society, 1920 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, OH 43537.
